Kings Cross Markets

Sydney’s Favourite Sunday Market

Kings Cross is Sydney’s most famous place for entertainment. It overflows with a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, clubs and pubs. But a little gem that happens every Sunday is the Kings Cross Sunday Market. This fabulous market, beloved by the locals of Kings Cross, Potts Point, Elizabeth Bay and Woolloomooloo is absolutely full  of little gems – from the best collection of cookbooks in Sydney to Prada dresses and fabulous hand-made jewellery – and all at way less than expected prices.

The Rotary Club of Kings Cross are proud to be the managers for the Kings Cross Sunday Markets. The Sunday Markets are one of  the ways that the Club raises vital funds that benefit a number of really important local community projects.

So by coming to the market and buying wonderful hand-made soy candles, picking up some book bargains, finding that elvis costume or perfect condition vintage Gucci handbag, you also support the community through the Rotary Club of Kings Cross.

You can also find a number of great food vendors*, so come and have the best coffee in the cross, a breakfast or a lunch and browse through the many original and fabulous stores.

Food vendors who wish to conduct business in the Sunday Markets must ensure that their equipment, processes, etc. meet the standards set by the NSW Food Authority and/or the local Council  in order to receive permission to sell food on the premises (food & beverages)
If you have any questions about the markets, please feel free to contact our Markets Manager via email or telephone 0424 301 090

Sydney’s Best Kept Secret – A European style Bric A Brac Market but so much more…

Crocodile handbagKings Cross Sunday market is a little secret I found recently on a Sunday afternoon walk to Rushcutters Bay. What a treasure trove…. antiquarian books, hand knitted teddy bears, genuine crocodile Gucci handbags, flowers, collectables and designer frocks….the list goes on.

I had not heard of this market which is open every Sunday from 8-4 in Fitzroy Gardens. Straddling Kings Crossand Potts Point – an area teeming with cooky media types, geeks, flamboyant designers, gorgeous models, DJ’s, barristers and barristers. It is also the area where Channel 10’s Underbelly was filmed and set. Film crews are always kicking about the laneways – it could the Rive Gauche or Soho. You cannot walk ten metres without tripping over a fancy french pastry.

The market is small but contains innumerable treasures. Nowhere else in the world can you hope to find a genuine vintage Celine or Gucci bag, designer sample clothes for less than $1000.

If you are in need of a reading there is the resident astrologer Tricia. For the best flowers in Sydney, there is Russell Sharp the Flower King. I love to meet up with friends at the nearby Fountain Cafe where after 3pm they have a happy hour. It’s a great people watching cafe in Sydney – at least on a Sunday. You can often spot a celebrity amongst the chic ladies, eccentric Potts Point locals and the Kings Cross oddballs that saunter by. Fabulous fun.
